Inside the Pittsburgh Steelers High School Football Showcase — Two Seasons of Live Social Content and Counting
Every Friday night during western Pennsylvania's high school football season, Orchard Eight Media is on the sideline. Live content capture, same-night highlight packages, Saturday morning recap edits — and content that ends up on Steelers.com, the Steelers social platforms, broadcast news, and the scoreboard at Acrisure Stadium.
The Pittsburgh Steelers High School Football Showcase Game of the Week has been one of the organization's flagship youth football initiatives since 2018. Each week during the high school season, the Steelers designate a featured game in western Pennsylvania — bringing Steely McBeam and a current or former player to serve as honorary co-captain, elevating a local program and celebrating the game of football at the community level.
Now in its third season on KDKA+ television, the Showcase is one of the most visible high school sports platforms in the region — reaching fans through broadcast, digital, and social media simultaneously every week of the season.
What Orchard Eight does
Orchard Eight Media handles the social media content side of the Showcase — live capture, highlight production, and distribution across multiple platforms and formats. It's a demanding, multi-output workflow that runs on tight deadlines every single week of the season.

Every Friday the workflow runs the same way — show up, capture the game, upload highlight clips and photos in real time for the Steelers social team to post across their official Youth Football platforms. Then comes the edit: a roughly one-minute recap video that goes out Saturday morning on social media and Steelers.com, and a separate short-form version cut specifically for the scoreboard at Acrisure Stadium during Steelers home games.
On top of that, highlight packages are supplied to local broadcast news outlets — extending the reach of each game beyond social into traditional media.
The pace of live sports content
What makes this work different from a standard production job is the speed. There's no scheduling a reshoot, no waiting until Monday for a first cut. The content has to be captured, edited, and delivered the same night — while the game is still happening in some cases. That's a skill set that comes directly from years of live content work across the NFL, NHL, and MLB.
Many of the clips produced across two seasons have gone viral — generating millions of views and interactions across the Steelers' social platforms. The combination of the Steelers brand, local community stories, and professional-quality production creates content that consistently punches above its weight.
Content that lives everywhere
A single Friday night game produces deliverables that end up on the Steelers Youth Football social platforms, Steelers.com, local broadcast news, and the scoreboard at Acrisure Stadium. That's a distribution footprint that spans digital, social, broadcast, and live event simultaneously.
We've modeled our approach to mirror how professional leagues distribute and create content — fast turnarounds, multiple format outputs, and content built for the platform it's going to rather than a one-size-fits-all edit. That methodology comes directly from years of live content work across the NFL, NHL, and MLB, and it's what makes the Friday night workflow run as cleanly as it does.
For the high school players, coaches, and communities featured each week, seeing their game on the Acrisure Stadium scoreboard in front of tens of thousands of Steelers fans is something that doesn't happen anywhere else. That's the human side of the work — and it's what makes it worth showing up every Friday.
The content in action
Three examples of the social content produced for the Steelers Youth Football platforms as part of the Showcase:
Scaling to whatever the season demands
One of the defining characteristics of this partnership is the ability to scale rapidly on a project basis. The regular season is the foundation — but the Showcase doesn't stop when the regular season does. Orchard Eight has covered the playoffs, City League Championships, and WPIAL Championships, expanding the crew, the workflow, and the output volume to match whatever the moment calls for.
That kind of flexibility isn't something you can manufacture for a big game. It comes from two seasons of building the systems, the trust, and the on-the-ground experience to know exactly what's needed before anyone has to ask. When the stakes get higher, the content gets better — not harder to deliver.
Going into year three
The Steelers High School Showcase is heading into its third season with Orchard Eight Media as the social content partner. The program continues to grow in reach and visibility, and the content operation behind it has been refined over two full seasons into a reliable, high-output workflow that delivers every week — from the first regular season Friday night through the final championship game.
