Pricing & Process
What Does Sports Event Video Coverage Actually Cost?
If you've looked for sports video pricing online, you know the drill — lots of highlight reels, no numbers. Here's the honest answer, based on what we actually charge to cover games, tournaments, and full seasons in the Pittsburgh area.
The wide answer: sports event video coverage runs anywhere from $400 to $20,000+. That's a big range, and it's real. What pushes a project toward one end or the other comes down to a handful of factors that are easy to understand once you know what to look for.
What Actually Drives the Cost
When two companies quote you $800 and $3,500 for "the same game coverage," they're not pricing the same thing. Here's where the money actually goes.
Number of cameras and crew
A single shooter on the sideline is a very different production than a two- or three-camera setup with dedicated angles. Most youth and high school highlight packages are shot by one operator. Add an end zone camera, a second shooter, or aerial footage and the cost climbs accordingly.
Edit complexity and deliverables
A 90-second highlight reel is a different edit than a full coach's film cut. A same-week turnaround for social is different than a season recap with graphics and music. Be specific about what you actually want delivered — that's where most price confusion comes from.
Turnaround time
Standard delivery for most game highlights is 2–5 business days. Need it posted the next morning? That's a different conversation — rush turnaround typically adds cost.
Travel and location
We're based in Cranberry Township, so most Pittsburgh metro area games don't involve travel fees. Tournaments further out — especially multi-day showcases — may include mileage or lodging.
Level of play
Youth and high school coverage is priced differently than college or professional work. The crew size, deliverable expectations, and usage rights all scale with the level. If you're at the college or pro level, we'll scope a custom quote around what you actually need.
Real Price Ranges by Coverage Type
Entry Level
Single-Game Highlight Reel
$400–$1,200
One camera operator, full-game filming, and a 1–3 minute highlight edit. Exactly what a family needs for a recruiting reel or a program needs for social content.
Multi-Camera
Full Event Coverage
$1,200–$3,500
Two or more angles, longer edit, coach's film cut or fan-ready highlight. Some packages include raw footage delivery in addition to the edited cut.
Tournaments
Tournament or Showcase
$2,000–$8,000+
Multiple games over one or more days, edited by game or as a single recap reel. Scope varies widely based on game count and deliverables.
Full Season
Season-Long Program
$5,000–$20,000+
Consistent coverage across a 10–15 game season with recurring edits. Most youth and high school programs fall in the $5,000–$12,000 range. College and pro programs are scoped separately.
At Orchard Eight, our sports event coverage starts at $400 per game, including a highlight reel. Full-season programs are priced based on game count and deliverables — most fall in the $5,000–$12,000 range. We'll always give you a flat number before we start.
Why Quotes Vary So Much
If you send the same request to five production companies, you might get quotes from $500 to $5,000. Before you assume the expensive one is a ripoff or the cheap one is a steal, ask every company the same questions:
Ask every company you're considering:
- What's included in the edit — how long is the cut, what format is the delivery?
- How long until I receive the final file?
- Do I own the footage, or does it expire?
- What happens if the game is rained out or postponed?
- Can I see examples from similar programs you've covered?
Most quote confusion disappears when you compare deliverables instead of totals. A $1,200 quote for one highlight is more expensive than a $1,500 quote that includes two games.
Season Programs: What You're Actually Paying For
A season-long program isn't just filming every game — it's consistent presence, consistent quality, and consistent editing throughout a full schedule. That takes real coordination and a crew that knows your program.
The value at this level is the relationship. By game four, we're not getting re-briefed on your team or your preferences — we're already on the sideline. The content gets better as the season goes on because we understand your program.
Most youth and high school programs running a full season package spend between $5,000 and $12,000 total. College and professional programs involve more crew, more deliverables, and broader usage rights — pricing at that level is scoped to the program and quoted directly.
The Bottom Line
- Single-game highlight reel: $400–$1,200
- Multi-camera event coverage: $1,200–$3,500 per event
- Tournament or showcase: $2,000–$8,000+
- Full season program: $5,000–$20,000+
If those numbers fit what you had in mind, let's talk. And if they don't — I hope this at least saved you a few "contact us for pricing" dead ends.
